This Fortnite Season 3 secret challenge involves helping the coral people rebuild.

As many of you are aware, Fortnite Season 2 brought us a sub-plot that involved the Bears and Gnomes of the island. By the end of the season, we had brokered a truce between these two groups that extended into Season 3.

This plotline included a handful of secret challenges – challenges that weren’t listed on the Battle Pass tab but rewarded players with XP. It looks like Epic is doing something similar with Season 3 – this time, revolving around some of the small, dancing coral people that lived on the islands outside of Sweaty Sands.

These islands were hit by the massive flood, and our little dancing friends were displaced. Well, a new island has shown up on the top of the map, next to the lighthouse. This area may have been added during the v13.20 update, although we’re not 100% sure about that. All we know is that it isn’t included on the original Fortnite Season 3 map.

You can find some of the survivors on this island, attempting to rebuild their home. Visiting them with 100 wood gets them to the next stage of development and rewards yourself with 25,000 XP. There isn’t any loot on this island, so keep that in mind. You should probably hit the lighthouse area before moving in.

The achievement for this quest tells you that these folks have entered the wood stage, which means that there’s probably more to come. We haven’t seen the last of these little guys, as they’ll probably continue to expand – with our help – over the course of the season.

Save the World

Fortnite Save the World is out of Early Access, but the player base is extremely unhappy, using the hashtag #SaveSaveTheWorld.

Most of our readers prefer the Battle Royale side of Fortnite, but that doesn’t mean that we completely ignore the original Fortnite game mode, “Save the World.” This mode was what Fortnite was supposed to be before Epic took a shot with a free-to-play Battle Royale.

Fortnite: Save the World already had a built-in players base when Battle Royale released. After the latter mode exploded in popularity, Save the World players saw most of Epic attention move over to Battle Royale while they got minimal and slow-rolling content updates.

On June 30, Epic announced that they were finally taking Save the World out of Early Access. They announced a number of new features, but the overall sentiment was clear: they were finished with the game and would be slowing down their update schedule going forward.

What’s more, Epic have decided to keep the game as a “premium experience” rather than free-to-play, as previously promised. They also noted that Founders Pack owners would be upgraded to the next level and that Ultimate Editions owners will receive 8,000 V-Bucks and the Metal Team Leader Pack.

The full release will include the newly-announced Ventures along with annual schedules that will rotate some of the fan-favorite game modes. Save the World players, however, were unhappy with this news. Many of them took to Twitter to voice their displeasure, using the hashtag #SaveSavetheWorld.

Save the World creator DemonJoeFrance made a thread and recorded a video, explaining why the #SaveSavetheWorld hashtag exists and why the most recent blog post is such a problem. The STW community views this as Epic giving up on the original Fortnite in favor of Battle Royale.

STW is a game that we all know has the potential to be great, but this Blog Post is nothing more than Epic telling us they’ve given up on their original vision for this game.

Please support the hashtag, please make your voices heard, and please.. stay awesome commanders. pic.twitter.com/ZjmIUlnAEH

One of the primary areas of complaint – although there are many – is that STW will not go free-to-play. As DemonJoe acknowledges in his thread, this will likely stunt the growth of Save the World. Fewer Battle Royale players will try it out, meaning the player base won’t continue to grow the way that Battle Royale has.

We’ll have to see if Epic take note of this trending hashtag or if they choose to reverse course at any point. On the Battle Royale side of things, they have always been attentive to similar community outcry. Will Save the World get the same treatment? Or, as CleanPrinceGaming predicted back in 2018, will Fortnite kill Fortnite?

Leak

Fortnite Season 3 is looking to finally spice things up in what has been a dry chapter of the game. Seasons 1 and 2 were long and relatively devoid of content. Three weeks into Season 3 and we’ve already seen two new weapons, the addition of LTMs, and a Summer Splash event.

According to reports coming out of the v13.20 patch, we’ll be getting another small surprise on the Fourth of July. Well – it won’t be a surprise to those of you who read the headline. According to Hypex, Captain America will be coming to Fortnite for the 4th of July.

Rumors started swirling as soon as Epic released their influencer patch notes – a small list of changes that they send to people with Creator Codes. Within this document, they told us that a hero was coming to the Item Shop on the 4th. Naturally, this led people to speculate that we’d be getting the Marvel hero with America’s namesake.

Several weeks ago, YouTuber Trimix created a Captain America concept skin and joined a couple of fashion shows with it. The real deal might look a bit different, but his video gives us an idea of what a Captain America Fortnite skin will look like.

This will, likely, be a must-have for the majority of the community. We didn’t get any skins for the core Avengers during the crossover, but it looks like we’ll finally be getting one this weekend.

Racing is coming to Fortnite Season 3 in this leaked Chrome Racing LTM.

The Fortnite Season 3 map is largely underwater at the moment. Based on the trailer, however, we know that the water will recede and that we’ll eventually be able to drive cars on the road. We already have a ton of information about these cars, including the different types, their fuel, and how many will spawn in each match. You can take a look at all of the Fortnite vehicle leaks here.

When the v13.20 update hit, data miners noticed another car-related string in the game files. The code points to a “Chrome Race LTM,” which looks to include some cars that may not be in the base Fortnite game mode.

Data miner @FortTory released some of the files related to the new race. None of it is overly surprising – it seems like a straightforward race. The only strange bit is having “more than one way to win.” It may be a Mario Kart-style race that incorporates some elements of battle.

If Epic does this mode correctly, it could spawn a whole new way to play Fortnite. Fans of GTA Online know that it has some of the best racing in all of gaming. It might be a pipe dream, but Epic could give us some way to progress our racing skills, release more cars, and open the door to a completely new mode, permanently.

Either that, or it will be a fun way to spend a few hours before moving back to Battle Royale. Either way, racing in Fortnite sounds promising. We’ll let you know when we learn more.
