The new IdeaPad S540-13 (AMD) is now available on Lenovo’s French-language webstore. It has been here before: however, this latest arrival is powered by the Ryzen 7 4800H APU, rather than the 7 4800U. Nevertheless, the price for this newer model with the more powerful chipset remains the same as the old.

The Lenovo IdeaPad S540-13 may be a good choice for fans of QHD 16:10 displays, as this slim and light laptop comes with up-to-date AMD Renoir-based processors. Now, the OEM’s French division has stocked its online store with SKUs of this device with the Ryzen 7 4800H APU.

This 13-incher also comes with Ryzen 7 4800U options (with the model number S540-13ARE), although the former has a higher base clock (2.9GHz compared to 1.8GHz in the 4800U). Then again, the upgraded chipset may mean reduced battery life, although Lenovo asserts the 4800H-powered S540-13 (or S540-13API) is rated for nearly 15 hours between charges.

This IdeaPad does indeed have the 2560×1600 IPS screen with 100% of the sRGB color gamut, although at 300 nits it could be brighter. It also has 65 watt (W) charging and dual 2W speakers. It starts at €1299 (~US$1525) for a 16GB RAM/1TB SSD unit. Unfortunately, it is yet to arrive on other national Lenovo sites, that of the US included, at present.

I became a professional writer and editor shortly after graduation. My degrees are in biomedical sciences; however, they led to some experience in the biotech area, which convinced me of its potential to revolutionize our health, environment and lives in general.
This developed into an all-consuming interest in more aspects of tech over time: I can never write enough on the latest electronics, gadgets and innovations. My other interests include imaging, astronomy, and streaming all the things. Oh, and coffee.
