Loki episode 2 spoilers follow.
Loki stars Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson have opened up about episode 2’s big moment and the revelation of Lady Loki.
In ‘The Variant’, which premiered this week, we learned that the version that they had been hunting was a female incarnation of Loki (played by Sophia Di Martino).
After leading TVA agents and Loki into a trap, the new character created a number of new branches on the timeline with stolen reset charges, before disappearing through one of the doors as Loki himself decided to follow her.

Reflecting on the God of Mischief’s decision to abandon the TVA, Mobius actor Owen Wilson admitted that his character “feels betrayed”.

“Having studied [Loki’s] life and knowing everything, you feel a little bit foolish also, because you can’t ever really be surprised that the God of Mischief would be up to something,” he told TVLine.
However, Hiddleston said that the decision wasn’t easy for Loki, suggesting that “certainly there’s conflict” for him.
“Mobius is someone who, perhaps for the first time in [Loki’s] life, he thinks he might be able to trust, and perhaps trusts him, and he doesn’t want to betray that trust,” the actor added.
“But at the same time, he has to see what’s going on. He can’t help himself but follow, because it’s too strange and provokes so much curiosity within him.”

As for what could come next, head writer Michael Waldron teased that Lady Loki’s arrival will “reshuffle the deck of the show” going forwards.
“We want to keep building the thrill ride, and that felt like the right time to blow another big batch of dynamite,” he added.
