Trevor Noah on Rep. Louie Gohmert: ‘If your tooth falls out mid-speech, your argument is over’

By Shannon Connellan

“Can we just take a moment to reflect on how hard this month has been for Trump’s people?” Trevor Noah joked in his monologue on Wednesday’s The Daily Show. “Because it’s not easy to overturn a democracy. It’s actually taking a physical toll on them. Trump’s hair went grey overnight, his legal team is riddled with corona, and now, one of Trump’s top supporters, Congressman Louie Gohmert, is literally falling apart.”

You know what he’s talking about. If you don’t, we dare you to skip to about 2:50 in the clip above for some horrifically slowed down footage of Trump ally and Republican representative Gohmert, who seemed to lose a tooth mid-press conference on Tuesday, while voicing opposition to the National Defense Authorisation Act (NDAA).

Noah took a moment to reflect on the dental dilemma in a segment unpacking Donald Trump’s latest rejection by a higher court to overturn the election — this one was none other than the Supreme Court, which took just 37 minutes to turn down a petition from Pennsylvania Republicans claiming the state’s mail-in ballots were unlawful.

But back to Gohmert’s escaping tooth.

“That is the most disgusting thing I have ever seen in 2020. And remember, I’ve seen everything. I mean, I saw Rudy’s hair melt,” said Noah. “But as disgusting as it is, it’s still pretty funny, man. Trump’s court cases are getting knocked out of court so hard that other people are losing their teeth.”

Gohmert appeared to try and manage the elusive chomper, seeming to hide the tooth in his mouth while continuing on with the press conference. “I love how he tried to move on like nothing happened, did you see that?” said Noah. “My man, I don’t care what side of history you’re on, if your tooth falls out mid-speech, your argument is over.”
